If you only see yourself in the eyes of the world,
and the assessments you think they perceive,
Then your self-worth will be a hindrance,
for you will become only what you think they believe.

And if you busy yourself on a daily basis
with comparisons of the personal kind,
Then you'll never know yourself or the value you are worth
through the peace God can give to your mind.

But if you spiritually grow as you press in to know
God's character through the Word He provides,
Then you will discover your soul has a lover,
and His feelings for you never hide.

Then through the Eyes of God you will come to see yourself
as somebody full of infinite worth;
A person God created to be filled with His Spirit
and unlike anyone else on this earth.

You will also come to see any gifts or talents
not as something to envy or compare,
But you'll know they are given to glorify the Lord
for your life and the time you are there.

The "comparison game" trades self-worth for shame
by the losses it always reveals,
But God gives the knowledge that we are priceless and precious
by His Truth that corrects as it heals.
