Having two big apple trees in our yard growing up,
kept us in Mom's delicious pies and cakes.

One tree was delicious to just pick an apple and eat.
The other one was so tart it would make your
mouth pucker but made the best tasting pies.
I can still almost smell them baking in Mom's oven.

Country Apple Pie

Pastry for 2-crust 9 inch pie

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
6 cups sliced tart apples
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon flour

Arrange apple slices in pastry-lined pie plate.
Sprinkle with lemon juice. Combine sugar, flour,
cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Sprinkle over apples.
Dot with butter and cover crust.

Bake in 450-degree oven for 15 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake
30-40 minutes longer or until apples are tender.

Romans 15: 10-11
And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.
